On the 24th of May 2002 thousands of Sidama people at Awassa, Loque rose against the tyranny of TPLF/EPRDF (Tigerian racist group). As a result of their peaceful demonstration they were indiscriminately shot and killed and dragged their dead bodies in the streets of Awassa. 9 years have passed since then and the day in question has since been made a national holiday-our rights day in Sidama region to commemorate the brave spirit of those people who sacrificed their lives for a just and humane Sidama.

The massacre was carried out by the special forces led by Bereket Simon, Mulugeta Alemsegid, Tadesse Kassa (the evils), Abadulla Gemeda, Girma Birru (the puppets), Hailemariam Desalegne (the bad tool), Melesae Miremo and Shifferaw Shiguttee (The Trojan Horses), those are the people who have the Sidama’s blood in their hands. TPLF made Sidamas foreigners in their own land. All the Sidamas who stood for their rights were systematically killed, imprisoned and forced to flee their country. This strategy of silencing Sidama is to keep them from uniting which pose threat to Tigreians narrow minded racist regime. History will not forget and forgive this regime and its hunch backs responsible for Loque massacre.

24th May, is therefore the greatest commemoration day which we keep alive the memory of those who died. No amount of work or speech, no matter how brilliantly written can ever be a better salute to the martyrs of Loque, Awassa. We therefore, know that on the 24th of May every year, the spirit of our departed brothers and sisters will march with Sidama People with fight for their rights.

Down with TPLF and its Puppets.
Victory for Democracy Loving People.

Logue massacre was the horrible thing that happened to me in my life. I have still fresh memory of the massacre. I was with my fellow friends to make peaceful demonstration. We were exercising our right to request regional state because the constitution guaranteed it. But what was happed was something very different. I saw people dying, ….I was running to escape from live bullet that was used by the government force at peaceful demonstrator…. Thanks God I could escape but lost one of my best friend. Even if it was 9 years ago i have still fresh memory of it , I fill pain when i think about it.
